I have to blog about this before I forget. I just read an article about the obesity rates in the US. Every state but Colorado has an obesity rate above 20%. That means 20 people out of every 100 is obese (has a BMI over 30). That is outstanding for me to comprehend. The states with the worst rates are here in the South. Mississippi had the worst with Alabama, West Virginia, Tennessee and Louisiana right behind them. And the excuses are "We live in an area of the country where eating is one of the things we do, and we eat a lot of fried foods", well, not in my book. I live in the South and I know that eating good fried foods is a way of life down here, but there is also a thing called portion control and not eating if you're not hungry. Believe me, I know, I lived that way for years and years and years! And that's what needs to change if any state/person wants to be healthier. Yes you can have fried chicken, but not a whole platter full of it. Yes you can have pecan pie, but not the whole darn thing! That's what I mean. And don't just eat because everyone else is. If you're not hungry and everyone else is eating apple pie a la mode, then just go in the next room or outside with a giant glass of water. Oh MY!!! Okay, now I've said my piece, I've gotten this off my chest. Thanks for listening!
Blessings,
Magnolia
